CARRYING TREASURER IN WEAK VESSELS

CARRYING TREASURER IN WEAK VESSELS

2 Corinthians 4:7:  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

2 Corinthians 4:16:  For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Meditation: The apostle Paul had a great passion to share the gospel with the world. In his endeavors to do so he realized that the great treasure that he wanted to share was held within a weak vessel, his body. He wanted everyone to know that the power he had to serve did not come from himself, but from God.

He goes on in verse 16 to say that for the cause of sharing the gospel he is motivated to continue on. However, his vessel (body) used to deliver the message was perishing, the inner man (soul) was fresh and being reinvigorated by the Holy Spirit everyday (Eph. 3:16).

In short, the condition of the vessel (body) is not what is important in serving God. What is important is the condition of the inner man (soul).

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to remain focused on renewing the inner man. Thank you for giving us the power to serve. Amen.
