RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD

RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Luke 4:17-19, 20a: And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet, Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recover the sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Meditation: Wow! Talk about rightly dividing the word of truth! As Jesus read from Isaiah 61:1-2, he stopped at “the acceptable year of the Lord,” which is connected with the first advent and His gracious offer of Himself, “the day of vengeance of our God” belongs to the second advent and judgement. As we study the Bible and share our thoughts with others on social media where it’s forever recorded in cyberspace, let’s be very sure to rightly divide the word of truth. We mustn’t offer our own opinion of what a passage may say but employ proper biblical exegesis as we share the Scriptures and it’s meaning.

Prayer: Lord, please help each of us to rightly divide your Word and refrain us from making your Word say something that it doesn’t. Amen.
