WHO DOES GOD SAY I AM?

WHO DOES GOD SAY I AM?

Galatians 3:26-28:  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Meditation: Our culture has placed a great emphasis of late on identity. So people have gone about labeling themselves in a way they desire to be identified. I first remember hearing the concept of self-branding when I was in college. The philosophy teaches that you are a brand and you need to market yourself to the world. Little did I know that some 20 years later with the advent of social media how that philosophy would grip a generation.

Today’s young people are being taught to look within themselves to try and determine who they are. It is no wonder that depression, anxiety, mental disorders, and suicide have become a pandemic in our nation. People are looking to their own hearts, which are deceitful, for answers. Besides, it is all vanity.

This should not be in the church as the scripture clearly says your identity is found “In Christ” and not in yourself. Christians are not defined by their emotions or whatever other people say about them, but by what God says they are. You are not your past, you are not your failures, you are not your job, you are not your successes, you are not your bank account, you are a child of God. That is who you are.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for those whose minds are trying to figure out who they are. First, I pray for them to be born again into the family of God. Second, I pray that Christians would know that the only identifier that matters is that they are His Child! Amen.
