RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD

Wow! Talk about rightly dividing the word of truth! As Jesus read from Isaiah 61:1-2, he stopped at “the acceptable year of the Lord,” which is connected with the first advent and His gracious offer of Himself, “the day of vengeance of our God” belongs to the second advent and judgement. As we study the Bible and share our thoughts with others on social media where it’s forever recorded in cyberspace, let’s be very sure to rightly divide the word of truth. We mustn’t offer our own opinion of what a passage may say but employ proper biblical exegesis as we share the Scriptures and it’s meaning.

SELF OPPOSITION

When man rejects truth it is to his own detriment. He is opposing himself. In other words, we are our own greatest enemy. The greatest opposition one can have against himself is to reject Jesus Christ as Lord and savior in unbelief. However, for the Christian we also oppose ourselves when we refuse to follow Christ in obedience to the truth. The first will realize how great his error is at the great white throne judgment (Rev. 20:11-15). The latter will know at the judgment seat of Christ (Rom. 14:10-12). That is why we should approach those rejecting truth with humility as we ourselves are not immune to temptation nor will we escape the judgment seat (Gal. 6:1).

ITCHY EARS

In our current political climate, it’s easy to get caught up in all the conspiracy theories, tying them to so-called “prophecies”. It’s imperative that Christians employ discernment, insight and wisdom from above as many are turning away from the truth and turning towards fables
