OUR MOTIVATION

”Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.“ ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

”and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.“ ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

All throughout the Bible, Jesus teaches us to serve others.  Knowing that we can help those with needs around us, and that we ultimately serve the Lord Jesus Christ sums up our motivation to serve.

ABOUT US

We have been married since 2003.  We have 3 children, Amelia, Lance, and Natalia.  Timothy grew up in Momence, IL, and attended college at the U of I.  Tim is currently a store manager for Auto Zone.   Sonya is from Effingham, IL, and she attended college at EIU in Charleston.  She currently works as a substitute teacher.

OUR TESTIMONIES

Timothy:  I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 5, and I was baptized at age 11. I attended Bible Witness Camp, went through the Awana program as a child, and worked in the Awana program until moving to Urbana to attend the University of Illinois.

Sonya:  When I was really young, I always had the desire to go to church.  My family did not attend church.  My very kind neighbors took me to their church for a while but bringing me along became too much of a burden for them.  After that, a relative brought me to their church for a couple of years until it was too much for them to pick me up each Sunday as well.  Not being able to attend church broke my heart, so my family found a church that had a bus ministry.  I started riding the bus in 3rd grade.  I was able to connect with a wonderful church family who really cared about me even though I was just a bus kid.  I learned so much about God’s love for me and how Jesus loved me so much that he died for my sins, so I was saved when I was 11 years old.  This church became a family to me. I was very involved at First Baptist Church in Effingham growing up, and I eventually became a 5th and 6th grade Sunday School teacher after college.  I attended First Baptist until Timothy, and I got married in 2003, and I moved to Urbana.

ONE MORE THING

Timothy likes to go fishing in his free time.  Sonya also serves as a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop, and she enjoys reading.
