Proverbs 20:17-18: Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
Meditation: God warns us not to rejoice in our hearts when we hear that something bad has happened to our enemy. God always knows what is going on in our hearts, and our wrong response brings displeasure to him. God says that He will turn away His wrath from our enemy and judge us for the wrong attitude that we have in our heart. God commands every Christian to love his or her personal enemies since one of the chief measures of a true Christians is loving our enemies. Such love includes being grieved when our enemy falls or stumbles in life. If we are glad or rejoice when bad things happen to an enemy, we have sinned.
Prayer: God, please forgive me for the wicked sinful attitude of not loving my enemies as you command me to in the Bible. I am commanded to treat others the way that I desire to be treated and to love my enemies in thought and actions. Please give me your strength to please you in this area.
